Unit 6: The world at war: WW1, world wide depression and WW2
This unit focuses on the global crisis of WW1. Where
countries start to form secret alliances as they are trying to prove their
power by expanding their countries power leads them into our first world war. Due to one man Archduke Franz Ferdinand from
the Austria-Hungarian Empire and his wife being assassinated this leads to a
domino effect where countries pull their allies into fighting. Finally America is “pulled in”. However the war does not end well. European
countries quickly are sent into an economic depression with America to follow
shortly. Also due to the Treaty of Versailles
which caused Germany to sign the war guilt clause and pay large amounts of
reparations (money) this sends Europe and the rest of the world into the Second
World War. By the end of the war Europe
is destroyed and America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan forever ending the
way we fight war and creating a huge effect to create world peace.
